Tumblr - Why can't I post to my private Tumblr Blog?
The Tumblr API does not allow posting to private blogs. Therefore we cannot provide this ability in Blogsy. If Tumblr changes their API to make it possible we will make the change in Blogsy.
Why am I getting a "Request Failed" Blog returned invalid data." message?
If you are seeing “Request Failed” Blog returned invalid data.” then your blog is most likely sending back the following information.
“Warning: Cannot modify header information – headers already sent by (output started at /different for each user/wp-includes/class-wp-xmlrpc-server.php:2470) in /different for each user/wp-includes/class-IXR.php on line 472”
We found this post which describes this error message and how to fix it.
The solutions is as follows.
- Using an FTP program edit the file - wp-includes/class-wp-xmlrpc-server.php
- Find line 2470 in wp-includes/class-wp-xmlrpc-server.php
- Add this
if($file->guid && !($file->guid == NULL))
to the line above the following.if ( strpos( $post_content, $file->guid ) !== false )
Here is the example:if ( is_array( $attachments ) ) { foreach ( $attachments as $file ) { if($file->guid && !($file->guid == NULL)) if ( strpos( $post_content, $file->guid ) !== false ) $wpdb->update($wpdb->posts, array('post_parent' => $post_ID), array('ID'=> $file->ID) ); } }
Why can't I add photos when I'm offline?
In order to provide WYSIWYG for images and videos Blogsy needs the URL. This means that in order to give the ability for users to set the image size, alignment, etc, and actually see those changes on the Rich Side Blogsy needs the image URL. If we can figure out a way around this then we will change it in a future update.
Blogger or Safari is deleting your Blogger blog content.
Do not open your Blogger account in mobile Safari on your iPad! When doing this the post content gets deleted and only your title and tags remain. This happens with any posts, not just posts/drafts you created in Blogsy.
Please report this issue to Blogger and Apple so they will fix it.
Why is Blogsy crashing as soon as I tap on the Photo Library icon in the dock?
We are still trying to figure out the reason for this. We are unable to reproduce this problem so we have not been able to figure out the cause of it. It seems to be related to some malformed or different metadata in the most recent photo in the Camera Roll. It does not happen if an iPad photo is the most recent photo in the camera roll.
The following should fix your problem but we do not consider the issue resolved.
- Close Blogsy.
- Delete Blogsy from the multitasking area on your iPad.
- Take a screenshot or picture with your iPad.
Now if you launch Blogsy again and tap on the photo library icon in the dock you shouldn't be having the crashing problem.
Why do I get an error message instantly when I try to set up Blogger/Picasa/YouTube?
The time on your iPad and the time of the time zone you are in have to be within 10 minutes of each other. Set your time on your iPad to the same time as the time zone you are in then go into Blogsy and set up your Blogger/Picasa/YouTube accounts.
On the iPad:
- Settings
- General
- Date & Time (confirm time zone)
- Set Date & Time (make sure the time is the correct time for the time zone you are in.)
- Open Blogsy and set up your accounts.
Why isn't spellchecking working?
Spellchecking is native iOS functionality. There is a bug in the spellchecking functionality when typing in the web view which is what we use on the Rich Side in Blogsy. We have reported this bug to Apple and hope they get it fixed in their next update.
Apple's iOS bug report system is only for developers. But if you would like to help us ask Apple to get this fixed you can report an iPad problem here - http://www.apple.com/feedback/ipad.html. Please mention that spellchecking is not working in the "web view".
Why can't I cancel the suggested correct spelling?

Why can't I set up my YouTube account?
Is Blogsy getting stuck at the authorization page where it is telling you to copy and paste some code?
This is caused if you haven't activated your YouTube account yet. To activate you YouTube account do the follow.
- Open your YouTube account in a browser.
- Then go to your YouTube Settings.
- Then in the settings go to Profile setup.
- Fill out your information and save it.
- Go back to Blogsy and set up your YouTube account.
Why do I have to turn on "Location Services" to access my iPad photo library.
Apple requires this. If an app uses the basic photo picker then Apple does not require location service to be turned on. But if an app wants to access the photo library without going through the basic photo picker the location services has to be turned on for Blogsy. Blogsy cannot use the basic photo picker because it will not allow us to do the dragging and dropping.
Why isn't Blogsy in the "Location Services" list on my iPad.
This is caused if you have your iPad set up to not allow apps to change location services settings.
- Go to the "Settings" on your iPad.
- Go to "General"
- Go to "Restrictions"
- Go to "Location"
- Make sure you have "Allow Changes" checked.
Why am I not seeing the "link" option in the popup bubble when selecting text?
We are still trying to figure out why this is happening.
To get the link option back do the following.
- Close Blogsy.
- Double press on the home button on your iPad to open the multitasking area.
- Delete Blogsy from the multitasking area. (Do not delete Blogsy from you iPad.)
- Open Blogsy and select some text and the "link" option will be there again.
Why do I get the "PROBLEM" message when I try to drag in an image to my post?
Is your blog set to private? If it is set to private then Blogsy cannot fetch the image to display it. Obviously "2) The image is password protected or in a password protected library." is not clear enough so we have added another item to that message and it will be in our next update.
How to work with this.
- Change your blog from private to public. But for many of you this will not be an option so you can do the following.
- Just hit the "Dismiss" button. Blogsy will use the stretched image or you will see a box with an "x" in it if the Rich Side gets refreshed. Once you publish your blog post to your blog visitors that can access your private blog will see the images correctly. One thing to know, if you see the stretched image in your post you cannot tap on it to edit the photo settings. If you see the square with the "x" in the middle then you can tap on it and edit the photo settings. To force this change flip to the HTML Side in Blogsy then back to the Rich Side.
Why am I not seeing my post after the More tag when I load a Blogger blog post into Blogsy?
This is caused by having "Until Jump Break" as the setting for "Allow Blog Feeds" in your blog settings. Blogger does not allow us to fetch the information after the more tag if this is the setting.
To fix this do the following.
- Go to your Blogger dashboard in a web browser.
- Go to "Settings"
- Then choose "Other"
- In the "Site Feed" section you will see "Allow Blog Feed". Choose "Full"
- Make sure to "Save settings"
Why can't I add captions?
The reason for this is that there is no standard HTML for captions. WP uses their own unique code and the other platforms that have captions do it differently. This causes several problems. For one, iOS cannot parse the WP caption code so we would have to rebuild our parser. Also, if a user wanted to take something they had published to their WordPress blog and then publish it to their blog on another platform the captions wouldn't work. We have caption support on our "Possible Future Features" list so if we can figure out a way to get captions to work we will add it.
I changed the name of my blog but the old name still appears in Blogsy.
Blogsy only fetches a blog name when you first set up your blog. If you want the new name to be reflected in Blogsy then you need to set up you blog in Blogsy again.
- Go to the Settings menu in Blogsy.
- Go to "Service Settings"
- Choose you blog platform
- Tap on "Add New ~~ account"
- Enter your setup information again and tap on "Add Site"
- Your blog title changes will now be reflected in Blogsy
Why can't I use TextExpander on the Rich Side in Blogsy?
TextExpander does not currently function in the web view. Blogsy uses the web view for the Rich Side. We are in communication with the folks at TextExpander and we are working together to figure out how they can make it function in the web view.

[TypePad] How can I post-date a post?
There are a couple of areas where you can change the date of the blog post: in the Post Settings screen or from the title bar when viewing the Rich Side. The easiest option is to tap on the "Publish Date: Automatic" text that appears to the right of the post title when viewing the Rich Side of the Blogsy app. A menu will appear where you can select a date and time in the past. Once you select it, tap back into the editor to save the changes to the date/time. When you publish the post it will reflect the change you made.

Why does the formatting in Blogsy look different than on my blog?
There are two possible reasons for this.
- Your blog’s theme has a stylesheet. The rules for formatting your blog posts are set in this file. If your stylesheet overrides the default formatting then it will look different.
- A difference in formatting can be caused by typing inside the image division tag. You can check out the video labeled "Should Not Do" to see what I mean by typing inside the image division tag. You should only tap and type where you see a grey triangle. If you want text to wrap around an image then you should tap on the image and set the image alignment. Another way that text can get inside the image division tag is if you tap at the start of a paragraph after an image and hit delete. This deletes the paragraph tag and places the text in the image division tag.
Why am I seeing HTML in the blog post I publish and not the photos?
Are seeing a bunch of HTML instead of the image, video or formatting in your blog post after publishing? Something like what you can see in this image?
This is caused by PHP and LibXML on your site. There is a change in LibXML2 which is used by PHP to parse XML. Here you can find a discussion on the topic. (Here)
The best solution – upgrade to PHP 5.2.9 and libxml2 2.7.3. You must upgrade both.
An easier solution that may work – install and activate a plugin called LibXML2 Fix.
Why do I lose my paragraph spacing when I edit my post on the Blogger admin panel?
Blogger chooses to use the br tag instead of the standard p tag. By default a p tag creates space between paragraphs (after an enter). But a br tag doesn't. So, when you publish a post from Blogsy to your blog it shows correctly with the spacing, but if you open that post in the Blogger admin panel Blogger strips out the p tags and changes them to br tags and when they do that the spacing is lost. iOS does not allow us to correctly create the br tag in the web view (Blogsy Rich Side) so we can't use the br tag in Blogsy.
Solution:
- Edit your posts in Blogsy.
- If you need to, or want to, edit your post in the Blogger admin panel then you need to manually put the spacing back in yourself.
- We have an option in the Settings menu to use the div tag instead of the standard p tag. This will act similar to the br tag. But your theme may treat a div tag differently so after making the change do a test post to see how it will look on your blog.
Why do I have to turn on Location Services to access my photo library?
This is a requirement by Apple. If we were to use the basic image picker then this would not be required but the basic image picker will not allow the dragging and dropping. Blogsy does not do anything with location information so it's not something Blogsy needs nor we want.
I try to turn on Location Services for Blogsy but it is not there.
This is caused if you have your iPad set to not allow changes to Location Services.
The following should fix your problem but is not a permanant fix.
- Close Blogsy.
- Delete blog from the multitasking area on your iPad.
- Take a screenshot or picture with your iPad.
Now if you launch Blogsy again and tap on the photo library icon in the dock you shouldn't be having the crashing problem.

Note: If the site owner has used special script for their embed selection you may not be able to copy it in the browser. This would be the same for the official Safari browser as we are using the Safari code.
Why does my blog post in Blogsy look different than on my blog?
Blogsy uses standard HTML to show your blog post. Your theme’s CSS may have rules which override the standard HTML formatting.
How can I set the Featured Image?
Unfortunately, the WordPress API does not allow us to set the Featured Image. As soon as WordPress changes their API we will add this ability to Blogsy.
Please, help us get WordPress to include this ability in their API.
How can I access my WordPress Media Library?
WordPress does not allow access to the Media Library through their API. Therefore we are not able to give users direct access to their WordPress Media Library. As soon as WordPress changes their API we will add this ability to Blogsy.
A workaround is to access your Media Library in Blogsy’s built-in browser then drag your images into your post.
Please, help us get WordPress to include this ability in their API.
Why do I see strange characters (i.e. ë) in Blogsy?
If you are editing a previously posted (or draft) blog post then the software which created the blog post may use special HTML character entities. iOS does not recognize special HTML characters and they will be stripped out by iOS. There is no way for us to program around this.
Why won't the link popup menu appear?
Does the word or phrase you are using for the link have an apostrophe (') in it?
Does the 'alt text' have an apostrophe (') in it?
Apostrophes cause a conflict with the JavaScript.
How to work around this.
- On the Write Side delete the apostrophe marks.
- Flip to the Rich Side and tap on the link to access the link menu. Make the changes you want to make.
- Flip back to the Write Side and add the apostrophe marks.
